2004-09-01 - 9:52 a.m. I cannot freakin' believe this guy got arrested. I haven't watched the arrest clip yet. I have watched the test run clip, about a million times, and find it fascinating. Anyway. I'm down here for a few more days. Omi may come Friday if the storm comes near. Am not getting very far on schoolwork. It's taking forever and I'm not going to get done before flying back to Boston. I have no idea what this means for my graduation date. Frankly, I don't want to think about it. I turned 27. Traditionally multiples-of-nine years have been good for me, so I'm telling myself this isn't a bad thing. I got my hair dyed. There are still a ton of white hairs, but they are much much more blended in now. Grayness wise it almost takes me back to high school. Yay. The other day, on mute, on Fox News, I saw a commercial for the Log Cabin Republicans. It starts out with a long clip of President Reagan, then flashes on a bunch of scary things--pictures of Jerry Falwell, and a Pat Buchanan clip, and the signs from Westboro, Kansas--and then ends with "Which will we remember?" or something like that. I wish the sound had been on, but my stepfather has like eight remotes, and the one that says "TV" on it does not actually make the volume go up. It's an excellent strategy--hit them where they live. I was very impressed. Omi has gone to some Democratic meetings and got me a Kerry-Edwards pin. She wears hers everywhere. Down here that's a very big deal. Mine is on my little purse for now, but it seems redundant to display it in Boston. You'd think it would be equally redundant to put "W" stickers on your car, and signs in your yard, down here, but that's not the case, alas.
